McCartney III, Paul McCartney’s 18th solo studio album, was released worldwide on 18 December 2020.
It was his third completely solo homespun album, following 1970’s McCartney and 1980’s McCartney II.
The album was announced on 21 October 2020. Its release was moved back a week due to “unforeseeable production delays”.
McCartney III was released on compact disc, various vinyl editions, digital download, and streaming services. Multiple coloured vinyl variants were made available, including a Third Man Records yellow edition limited to just 333 copies.
The album topped the album charts in Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. It went top 10 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.
In the USA, McCartney III charted at number two on the Billboard 200, behind Taylor Swift’s Evermore, and topped the US Top Rock Albums chart.
