Paul McCartney live: PNC Arena, Raleigh

Paul McCartney performed at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, on 27 May 2019.

It was the 25th show of the Freshen Up Tour, which lasted for 39 dates between September 2018 and July 2019. This concert was seen by 14,805 fans.

The concert was unusual for McCartney taking a rare drink of water during his set. His voice faltered while singing the John Lennon tribute ‘Here Today’.

One of the things that people say to me when they’re seeing the show, ‘You didn’t take a drink of water the whole time,’ But tonight I’m going to… A rule is broken. That’s what rules are for.

McCartney’s band was Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica), Brian Ray (vocals, guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (vocals, guitar), Abe Laboriel Jr (vocals, drums), Kenji Fenton (saxophone), Mike Davis (trumpet), and Paul Burton (trombone).

McCartney had previously performed at the RBC Center, as the PNC Arena was then known, during the Driving World Tour on 7 October 2002.
