Paul McCartney live: Save Mart Center, Fresno

Paul McCartney performed at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California, USA, on 13 April 2016.

It was the opening show of the One On One Tour, which lasted for 77 dates between April 2016 and December 2017. This concert was seen by 11,976 fans.

There were plenty of surprises in the setlist, including his first ever solo performance of The Beatles’ 1964 song ‘A Hard Day’s Night’. McCartney last played the song with The Beatles on 31 August 1965 at the Cow Palace in Daly City, California.

McCartney also brought back a selection of other Beatles songs into his live set, including ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’, ‘Here, There And Everywhere’, ‘You Won’t See Me’, and ‘The Fool On The Hill’. He also played The Quarrymen’s early song ‘In Spite Of All The Danger’, and dedicated a performance of ‘Love Me Do’ to Beatles producer George Martin, who died on 8 April. It was the first time McCartney had performed the song as a solo artist.

McCartney’s band was Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica), Brian Ray (vocals, guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (vocals, guitar), and Abe Laboriel Jr (vocals, drums).

  1. Cool! Good luck for him and the boys on the new tour! Although I really don’t understand why he wouldn’t finally drop “Maybe I’m amazed” from the setlist. He just can’t sing it anymore – for a long time now!

About “Love me do”: He DID play it as a medley with “PS: I love you” in the 90s, in quite a “cheesy” 90s version… I understand everybody who thinks this is horrible, but personally I think it’s awesome! 😉
