The Beatles performed three shows at the Budokan, on 30 June, 1 and 2 July 1966. McCartney returned there during the One On One Tour on 25 April 2017.
McCartney’s setlist was remarkable for being the first ever live performance of the 50-year-old Beatles song ‘Another Girl’. It also saw a number of regular songs dropped from the set, including ‘The Long And Winding Road’, ‘Queenie Eye’, ‘All Together Now’, ‘Lovely Rita’, ‘Eleanor Rigby’, ‘Here Today’, ‘Something’, ‘Band On The Run’, ‘Day Tripper’, ‘Hi, Hi, Hi’ and ‘Helter Skelter’.
It was sensational and quite emotional remembering the first time and then experiencing this fantastic audience tonight. It was thrilling for us and we think it was probably the best show we did in Japan and it was great to be doing the Budokan 49 years later. It was crazy. We loved it.

McCartney’s band was Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica), Brian Ray (vocals, guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (vocals, guitar), and Abe Laboriel Jr (vocals, drums).
