Paul McCartney live: Unipol Arena, Bologna

Paul McCartney performed at the Unipol Arena in Bologna, Italy, on 26 November 2011.

It was the tenth show of the On The Run Tour, which lasted for 37 dates between July 2011 and November 2012.

The setlist had some surprises. The Wings song Let ’Em In was dropped, and in its place was added the Badfinger song ‘Come And Get It’, which McCartney wrote in 1968.

More surprising was the first encore, a medley of ‘The Word’ and ‘All You Need Is Love’, with a brief snippet of ‘She Loves You’ at the end. McCartney had never before performed the medley in public. Watch it here:

McCartney’s band was Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica), Brian Ray (vocals, guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (vocals, guitar), and Abe Laboriel Jr (vocals, drums).

  1. Nice surprises!
Funny how the audience sings “SUNNY” a little too early sometimes…
Too bad Paul’s voice sounds a bit thin on this one.

Also notable that “Jet” is NOT the second song (considering “Venus and Mars/Rockshow” and single song-medley) in a setlist during his “Paul on the run” tour.

  2. PS: His Italian announcements remind me of their Paris concert in 65 where he tried to address the audience in French…

“The word” grooves like hell, easily in my top ten Beatles song ever!
Nice choice, though it’s primarily a John song (as is AYNIL, obviously).
Haha, Paul mixes up “Come/All together now” and “Everybody”.
    Nice touch with the SLY-ending.
