Paul McCartney performed at the Yankee Stadium in New York City, USA, on 16 July 2011.
It was the second show of the On The Run Tour, which lasted for 37 dates between July 2011 and November 2012, and the second of two consecutive nights in New York City.
Billy Joel was a surprise guest, playing piano during the version of The Beatles’ ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ in the first encore section. He had previously guested at McCartney’s opening show at New York’s Citi Field stadium, and McCartney had played at Joel’s show at the final Shea Stadium concert.
McCartney’s band was Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica), Brian Ray (vocals, guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (vocals, guitar), and Abe Laboriel Jr (vocals, drums).
