Paul McCartney performed at Liverpool Sound at Anfield, Liverpool, England, on 1 June 2008.
The event was to celebrate Liverpool’s year as the European Capital of Culture. Support was from Kaiser Chiefs and The Zutons. The show was seen by 36,000 people, including Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison.
McCartney’s band was Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica), Brian Ray (vocals, guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (vocals, guitar), and Abe Laboriel Jr (vocals, drums). They were joined by Dave Grohl on guitar for ‘Band On The Run’, and drums for ‘Back In The USSR’.
