The 20th date of George Harrison and Ravi Shankar’s 1974 North American tour took place at the Olympia Stadium in Detroit, Michigan, USA, on 4 December 1974.
There were two shows on this date, in the afternoon and evening. The Beatles had performed at the Olympia on 6 September 1964 and 13 August 1966.
Ravi Shankar did not play at this show due to illness.
Harrison’s 30-date tour was to promote his Dark Horse album and Dark Horse Records label, and took in 45 concerts in 26 cities. It was the first North American tour by a former Beatle, and Harrison’s first live performance since the Concert for Bangladesh in August 1971.
The Harrison concerts are an international smorgasbord, featuring a mixture of Indian and jazz influences, a bit of the old Liverpool sound and the jazz-pop rock of Preston and Scott. Shankar’s musicians, along with Harrison and his band, performed several well-received numbers, jazzy things that seemed to please. Although Detroiters didn’t award him the constant, maniacal screams that greeted The Beatles way back in ’66, their clamor for an encore indicated they liked him solo in the Motor City.

Jim Keltner joined the tour midway through on 27 November.

This setlist is correct. I was there. There was a snowstorm that day. The concert began about 2 hours late.
