The single, with ‘Nineteen Hundred And Eighty-Five’ on the b-side, topped the US Billboard Hot 100.

In the UK, ‘Band On The Run’ was issued with ‘Zoo Gang’ on the flipside. It peaked at number three on the UK singles chart.
