John Lennon recorded the song ‘Rock And Roll People’ on 4 August 1974 during the Mind Games sessions.
The song was left off the album, and remained unreleased until 1986’s Menlove Ave. The album version was a composite edit of takes six and seven.
Although never released in Lennon’s lifetime, the song was the first to be mixed during the Mind Games sessions. Although other songs remained incomplete, ‘Rock And Roll People’ was finished and mixed on 15 August. The mixing session, as with all for the album, took place at New York’s Record Plant studio.
