This was The Beatles’ 10th and final session recorded for the BBC radio’s Saturday Club, although they gave subsequent interviews to the show until 1966.
Just two songs – ‘Rock And Roll Music’ and ‘Kansas City/Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!’ – were taped, along with banter with host Brian Matthew.
When the edition of Saturday Club was broadcast, four songs from The Beatles’ 17 November 1964 session for Top Gear were also included. These were ‘I’m A Loser’, ‘Everybody’s Trying To Be My Baby’, ‘I Feel Fine’, and ‘She’s A Woman’.
The session took place in Studio One of the BBC’s Aeolian Hall in London. The edition of Saturday Club was first broadcast on the BBC Light Programme service on Boxing Day, 26 December 1964, from 10am to midday.
This session’s performance of ‘Rock And Roll Music’ was included on the 1994 collection Live At The BBC.
