Having attempted to record Paul McCartney’s ‘And I Love Her’ on 25 and 26 February, The Beatles finally completed it, recording takes 20 and 21.
Two recording sessions took place on this day. After finishing ‘And I Love Her’ in the first, which lasted from 10am to 1pm, The Beatles completed ‘Tell Me Why’ in eight takes.
After a break for lunch, The Beatles returned to the studio for an afternoon session lasting from 2.30-5.30pm. They recorded John Lennon’s ballad ‘If I Fell’ in 15 takes, with Lennon and McCartney singing together into the same microphone.
