The Beatles topped a four-act bill at the annual bank holiday Urmston Show, held in Abbotsfield Park in Urmston, Lancashire, on 5 August 1963.
They performed in a marquee in the park. Also on the bill were The Dennisons and Brian Poole And The Tremeloes, and the compère was disc jockey David Hamilton.

I was there a 3 year old on my dad’s shoulders I can still remember it to this day
These two pictures were not taken at Urmston. They were wearing there Beatles suits at the time and also performed in a marquee and at night time. The background buildings and chimney are also not part of the background at Abbotsfield park. These are photos from when they performed outside Granada studios in Manchester in 1963.
Spot on Urmstonite – correct in every detail. They did a 20 minute performance starting at 7.30pm. These photos are as you say outside Granada Studios. They are incorrectly reported all over the net as Urmston. The big rumour around Urmston still today is that they were smuggled in in a council dustcart. Equally untrue. They changed in a shed on the council owned allotment across Flixtron Road from the park and were smuggled in in a box van owned by Urmston Urban District Council Parks and Gardens Department.
Thanks for the info. Do you happen to know on which date the pics were taken? They made quite a few Granada appearances in 1963.
