Day 13 of The Beatles’ UK tour with Roy Orbison took them to the Odeon Cinema in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
Throughout the tour they performed a set consisting of seven songs: ‘Some Other Guy’, ‘Do You Want To Know A Secret’, ‘Love Me Do’, ‘From Me To You’, ‘Please Please Me’, ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ and ‘Twist And Shout’.
The Beatles performed at the Odeon Cinema on one other occasion, 9 December 1963. The venue was demolished in 2004 and replaced with a university building.

‘Thank You Girl’ was also performed this night.
Can anybody tell me the capacity of the Southend Odeon in 1955.
Thanks Gerry.
According to Wikipedia’s article on “Bad to Me”, the demo included on The Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963 was recorded this day. The statement has no reference, so I don’t know if there is any reliable information to prove it.
Hi
I have two tickets that were from this event 9th Dec 1963, ticket D33 and D34 in fine condition still in a frame.
My mum went and saw the beatles with her friend.
I slept on the pavement outside the Odeon the night before tickets went on sale. I thought I could get a date with any local girl for that concert. Took Sheila, a Grays Convent School Girl. Very pukkah! Halfway through the Beatles Set she walked out and sat on the sofa on the mezzanine floor. I followed. ‘Too Loud!’ she said. We listened to them over the wall speakers. We went back in for Roy Orbison.
I saw The Beatles at the Odeon Southend in 1963. Remember being allowed, with a friend, to queue up to buy tickets. Naturally I kept my ticket, then thought I lost it .. only to find it again 60 years later .. for it then to be accidentally thrown away.
