The Beatles had performed at the Guildhall in Portsmouth, England on Saturday 30 March 1963 during the Tommy Roe/Chris Montez tour, but returned to the city on this day for a show at the Savoy Ballroom in the seaside resort of Southsea.
It was their only concert at the venue. In later years the Savoy became a nightclub, before being demolished in 2009 to make way for seafront apartments.
