This was The Beatles’ second appearance on the Radio Luxembourg show The Friday Spectacular, following their earlier recording on 8 October 1962.
The Friday Spectacular was designed to plug EMI’s latest releases, and was recorded at EMI House, the label’s headquarters in Manchester Square, London.
This edition was recorded in the evening before a studio audience. The Beatles were interviewed and the studio versions of ‘Love Me Do’ and ‘PS I Love You’ – both sides of their debut single – were played. The show was broadcast on 23 November 1962 from 10-11pm.
