This was The Beatles’ final performance at Hambleton Hall in Huyton, Liverpool, and their only appearance at the venue in 1962.
It was booked by Wally Hill and Vic Anton, the promoters at the hall at the east of Liverpool. Hambleton Hall was a shabby municipal building which later became a probation office, situated on St David’s Road in Page Moss, Huyton.
The Beatles played at Hambleton Hall on 16 occasions. The other dates were 25 January; 1, 8, 15 and 22 February; 8 and 20 March; 20 August; 3 and 17 September; 15 and 29 October; 12 and 26 November; and 10 December 1961.

Goodbye Hambleton Hall !!!
Rough at times violent crowds and fighting!
Some nights the band barely made it out without a scuffle of some sort.
The recording of this show must be astounding!
I was there on the last night jiving and rocking as a young Huyton Teddy Boy until the Page Moss gang decided to teach us young us young upstarts a lesson for invading their territory and dancing with their girls. I ran to the stage shouting to the band to let me out the back door. I distinctly remember the Page Mossers throwing fire extinguishers and threatening people with starting handles they robbed from the cars outside. The band had stopped playing by then because of the fighting and when they heard me shout four heads popped from behind the curtains asking “has the fighting had stopped yet?” Thank goodness they let me out the back stage door and I legged it and managed to catch the 75 bus back to Huyton Village. Just to think the Beatles stopped me from getting a beating but I believe Paul and George got a bit roughrd up that night. It’s something that I’ll never forget! The Beatles back from Hamburg played some great Rock & Roll and Rhythm and Blues – great for dancing – brilliant!!!!!
