Although The Beatles had previously played three lunchtime shows at Liverpool’s Cavern Club, performances at the venue were not regular. However, this day was the beginning of a week of lunchtime sessions held at the club.
The Beatles were the act making the most appearances in the week, performing on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The Big Three played on Tuesday and Derry And The Seniors made an appearance on Thursday.
The precise number of The Beatles’ Cavern performances is not known, although they played at least 155 lunchtime and 125 evening shows between 9 February 1961 and 3 August 1963.
