G’day!
Although we dont have acts tour as regularly here ‘Down Under’, usually the international acts that do come are pretty good, and our homegrown rock kicks ass! 
So, what bands have you seen live? Will list mine here, might be a few you guys dont know, wiki ’em up
Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Beach Boys , The Who, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, AC/DC, INXS, John Butler Trio, Michael Jackson, Guns’n’Roses, Cold Chisel, Australian Crawl, Skid Row, Billy Joel, Arlo Guthrie, Icehouse…..Countless pub bands, and cant wait to see Paul & Ringo this year, also going to the Casbah for ‘Best Fest’ in August to see the quarrymen, the Blackjacks & The Pete Best Band… Sure I have missed a cpl up there too….

Offline Wow, that’s so many concerts and so many great bands. In 2010, I saw Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band, and that’s it. I really want to see thenewno2 live (if they’re touring anytime soon). I believe you mentioned them in a thread about George’s creepy songs, and I listened to them on Youtube after that. So thank you for introducing me to a new band, and making me realize that I should go to more concerts.

No worries! thenewno2 are a kick ass band, I’m glad Dhani has the balls to play his music, HIS way… A chip off the old block huh

Offline Sadly the last concert I’ve been to was by a solo pianist. I am saving up for a Paul Concert if he plans to tour somewhere in Asia (obviously he has no plans to tour here). Elton John as well as the Zombies also visited my country but I am not much of a huge fan.

Offline Let’s see, I saw Paul and Wings in Seattle in 1976.
I saw Santana three times in the 70s, and the band Chicago twice.
I saw Gordon Lightfoot once in the late 70s.
I saw the soul/funk/pop band War in the early 90s at an outdoor concert (they only had four of the original members)
I saw Loudon Wainwright in a rather medium-sized bar with a stage inside, late 70s.
I saw Neil Diamond in 1975
I saw Ray Charles in about 1977.
I saw a great double set of Herbie Hancock, opening for Average White Band, again in the 70s.
I saw some local Latin jazz/pop band do a set way back in 1974, during which they did a cover of the Cold Blood song “Valdez in the Country”.
I’d like to see James Taylor before either, or both of us, die(s)…
I saw the French folk singer/songwriter Francois Arambel (also an interesting guitar player — only uses his thumb and forefinger to pick, due a hand injury) back in the 80s, whose short and bittersweet instrumental “Jackie” is beautifully sad.

I saw that Dhani post. George once said that Dhani looks more like George than George himself. Elton John’s real name is Reginald Dwight Pinner, much easier to remember than Freddie Mercury’s.

Geez,….. memory lane.
As a kid I was a regular at the Fillmore East (in New York. The Fillmore West was in San Fransisco). At a every show there was an unknown, an up-and-coming band, and a well known band.
The Fillmore East was the only rock venue in town until Madison Square Garden came around.
My first concerts were the Lovin’ Spoonful and the Animals.
The most memorable concerts include:
– the Doors, Hendrix, Cream, and the Rolling Stones at the Garden, Jethro Tull at the Fillmore (in 1968-1969 – a fertile period). I still have my ticket stubs.
– Then the Mothers of Invention with “Flo and Eddie” from the Turtles in Providence, RI around 1973. They played one continuous “song” for one and a half hrs
– Then McCartney in 1990 (first time he reached deep into his Beatle catalog)
– Then McCartney at Citi Field (2010)
– Then McCartney at Yankee Stadium (2011)
Honorable mention to Billy Joel, the Police, Squeeze,..

Offline Searching my (ever decreasing) memory bank. The very first was Cheap Trick. After that, in no particular order, The Allman Brothers Band (at least a dozen times), Judas Priest, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Steve Miller, Rush, Triumph, Ozzie Osbourne, Deep Purple, UFO, Foghat, 38 Special, Molly Hatchet, Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels, The Outlaws (can you tell I was into Southern Rock in my teens?), The Scorpions, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Santana, Grateful Dead, Rainbow, Pat Travers, Pat Benatar, The Cult, Blue Oyster Cult, B.B. King, Doris Day, Matt Busby, Dig it, dig it, dig it…oops, I digress.

Offline I haven’t been to that many, but they were:
- Matthew Good Band and Sloan in 1999
- Bif Naked in 2001
- The Smashing Pumpkins, 2008. It was not the best show because Billy Corgan is a selfish b*****d. He would play one older song, then play 3 or 4 from the new (at the time) album (which isn’t that great in my opinion). At the end when he was doing encores (or lack there of) he told us that he wasn’t going to play “Disarm”, which we were all waiting to hear. The experience was great though, I went with my best friend/sister in law and we got matching treble clef tattoos on the back of our necks.
- The Crystal Method, 2011.
- Cut Chemist, 2011.
- Paul McCartney , November 2012 – Vancouver BC. I went with my spouse of over 9 years, and it was our first big concert together (we went to Cut Chemist and Crystal Method together, but there were just little bar venues). It was a wonderful experience. He played for 3 hours! The only unfortunate thing is that I missed him coming on stage. We were waiting in our seats and it was around 8:30 (it started at 8pm) so I decided to run to the washroom. Of course when I was in there, I heard the stadium erupt and “Magical Mystery Tour ” started! I’ve never run so fast in my life. I got back to my seat around half-way through the song. Thankfully my dude was recording it on his IPod so I did “see” him come out, but not for real.
We brought binoculars to the show (we were pretty far away) and every so often I would look though them and was just in disbeleif.. it didn’t feel like it was real, still doesn’t. I’d be like “Is that him? Is that really Paul McCartney ?!” Amazing.

3 Door Down (first big concert that I enjoyed)
Weird Al- didnt enjoy because I was dragged to it.
The Beach Boys -awesome, they still have the harmonies.
Cowboy Mouth (local band)- I liked it and didnt like it at the same time. The band was entertaining, but we were at festival like and it rain earlier that day on top of it being cold. We were on a tarp like thing covering the mud.

Lower Class Brats – enjoyed
Music As A Weapon Concert: Disturbed, Korn, In This Moment, and SevenDust – Awesome, except for In This Moment

Offline I grew up in a place that was for years concert-deficient. That is, until I moved away and then load of concerts started happening.
And where I moved to: Used to have multiple concert venues. After I moved there, they started closing down. D’oh!
That being said:
Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Anthrax, KISS, U2, Fiona Apple, Motley Crue, Poison, Def Leppard, Cracker, Elliott Smith, The Pixies, Bob Dylan (I got onstage!), The Beach Boys (original lineup), Brian Wilson, Electric Six and Rob Zombie, right off the top of my head.
And I go to lots of club shows to see a bunch of excellent Canadian bands that most of you probably have never heard of, like: Sloan, Joel Plaskett, Thrush Hermit (reunion tour), Kidstreet, Rheostatics and Mother Mother .
E is for 'Ergent'.
