great site.been a beatle fan since the old days.sitting in front of radiogram ,with my sister, singing she loves you.
keep up the good work
Damn, everytime I see the covers of “Beatlemania!” and “Twist And Shout” I think of the scratchy old copies I saw in dollar bins in the mid-80s and think “Why why why didn’t I buy them??”
I still have original copies.
I have a Canadian release on Mono ‘Meet the Beatles” with side 2 label printed on both sides.
Any thoughts on the miss print ?
I’ve been trying to locate a canadian mono meet the beatles . Let me know if you want to part with it .
darn man i had it and sold it for big bucks, had 2 mono and 2 stereo copies
Kevin the Mono of Meet the Beatles was Released with the title BEATLEMANIA

‘Don’t Bother Me’ on the Canadian Issue has a Glitch Vocal, by George, that’s not on the US Version…
Two questions about vinyl issues: 1. The Apple collection of various tracks titled “Hey Jude” on the album sleeve actually gives the album title as “The Beatles Again” on the disc itself. Which is the official title? 2. Another title question: is the correct album title “Yesterday… and Today” or “”Yesterday”… and Today”, with the second choice obviously punning on the hit song “Yesterday”, which is included. Any help out there?
Recently acquired a very hard to find Canadian 1980’s retro black and rainbow labeled Yesterday & Today. The 3 previous douphonic tracks I’m only Sleeping, And Your Bird Can Sing and Dr. Robert are presented here in full glorious stereo. These tracks are also flat copies from UK masters and have no eq changes or limiting and therefore sound better than all the other songs which have been treated to Capitol’s limiting and processing. This LP seems to be more scarce than the US butcher cover.
I’m just missing the 1964 Canada Capital Long Tall Sally to finish my Canadian set. I was so happy to find an original 1967 Cnd mono Magical Mystery Tour Album. Nice to see Canada Capital release Beatles music in 1963, before their US counterpart.
Other variations exist, including five singles unique to Canada.
Any body know what these 5 unique singles were? 1) Thank You Girl 2) ?, 3) ?, 4) ?, & 5) ?
Canada 9 Beatles Capitol swirl: Love me do 1st version, Ask me whyPlease please me, From me to you/Thank you girl, She loves you/ I’ll get you, Beethoven/Postman, This boy/Loving, Sie liebt dich/I’ll get you, Secret/Thank you girl, Twist and shout/There’s a place. Beatle Lew.
Joe, great site, keep up the great work, from a beatlesbible fan in Canada!
The Butcher cover shown for Yesterday and Today album is incorrect. In Canada, this was the trunk cover only.
sorry bud no it was not i had the canadian copy which the cover was a bit larger than the states copy so dont tell me there was only the trunk cover in Canada…. my copy came from Sears in Canada….
Joe, If I could just correct you on a few dates on Canada’s all important 3 unique To Canada Capitol Albums.
1) Beatlemania! With The Beatles was released November 25 1963, just 3 days after the UK LP
2) Twist And Shout was released February 03 1964 and finally
3) Long Tall Sally was released April 27 1964.
Our CND BeatlesBible reference is http://www.capitol6000.com Again, txs for the great job, just absolutely love this site.
Thank you! That’s a useful site. The books look expensive though…
Hi again Joe,
George here again, I can’t remember if I wrote to you before about some single missing from your list,
they are as follows.
1) Capitol Star line 45-6061 Twist & Shout / There’s A Place issued 18th Oct 1965
2) ” ” ” 45-6062 Love Me Do / P.S.I Love You issued 18th Oct 1965
3) ” ” ” 45-6063 Please, Please Me / From Me To You issue 18th Oct 1965
4) Apple 2531 Ballad Of John & Yoko / Old Brown Shoe.
Hope this info helps,
Regards, George
No, thank you sir!
Just for the record (no pun intended) in Canada, The U.S. versions of “Meet The Beatles”, then “Beatles Second Album” were released February 1st 1967 to make up for the delay of “Sgt Pepper”, (Like the U.K. put out “A Collection Of Oldies”).
Then finally they released the U.S. “Early Beatles” August 1st 1968 between “Magical Mystery Tour” LP and the long awaited “White Album”. This way, they had released all the U.S. Albums to the Canadian market, that they had previously missed, while keeping record sales up.

Capitol 5255 [Mono] Kanada
The Beatles
Slow Down – A side.
Kevin Holland: Good luck finding a mono copy of MTB. I’m looking for one too.
J Roger Gardy: The double “Don’t” in Don’t Bother Me appears only on a specific pressing on the purple Capitol label, circa 1978. Congratulations, it is a cool and semi-rare variation.
David Coll: A tiny number of genuine Canadian butcher sleeves have surfaced. It must have the Litho in Canda reference found on the other mid-60s sleeves. A paste-over butcher has been confirmed from Jamaica, although it was a standard US sleeve exported to Jamaica to house a Jamaica-pressed copy of Y&T. The Jamaican Y&T disc is far rarer than the butcher sleeve.
Kind of disappointed Canada didn’t follow Parlophone’s lead and release an EP here.
There is a Canadian E.P., Bongo. It’s called Four by The Beatles; EAP 1-2121.
Released MAY 11, 1964. Issued in a stiff cardboard picture sleeve.
There is a vary unique used stuff store where I live in Campbell River BC Canada. They have bins and bins and bins of used vinyl but none of it is categorized. You never know what you’re going to find. Today I lucked out and found good clean original copies of Beatlemania, Twist and Shout and Something New. My lucky day!.
What style label was used on the Canadian 1st pressing of “The Early Beatles”? I recently acquired an early Canadian copy.
Black rainbow, I just got one, stereo copy last week.
the album long tall sally in Canada which I have in front of me does not have I want to hold your hand and when it came out it was offered on a 45 only.
All copies of the Canadian Long Tall Sally LP have I Want To Hold Your Hand as the opening track. Are you sure you are not looking at a copy of Second Album?
Just got a stereo copy of “Long Tall Sally” on the purple Capitol label, but only a few songs on side 2 are in stereo. Is this the way all stereo copies are?
The last copies on the retro rainbow label have the side two tracks in true stereo.
I would be very interested to know if anyone out there knows as to which Beatles tracks from the Canadian albums or singles was Windsor, Ont. radio station CKLW at 800 AM playing the most frequently during February and then March in 1964? Is anyone from Michigan or western Ontario out there who could answer please? Thank you.
I grew up in Southern Ontario in the early 70s, and it seems that “She Loves You” and “Hold Your Hand” were both huge in Jan/Feb 1964
Do you need photos of these singles? I own several of them
Yes please! If you have good-quality scans please email them to joe @ beatlesbible.com. Thanks!
